Add A Playback LED To Your JustBoom DAC Zero Or Digi Zero

This guide will show you how to install an LED on your JustBoom DAC Zero or Digi Zero.

Adding a playback LED adds a nice visible feature for you to know when the music is playing and when it is stopped.

Note that on some OS distributions the playback LED will be kept on even when the music is stopped.

Identify on the PCB the location for the LED.

Use the picture on the left to help you find it.

Step 1 – Place the LED on the board so that the longer leg is on the side of the female header as shown in the picture.

You can find suitable LEDs for this on our main website.

Step 2 – Rotate the PCB by making sure the LED remains in position. You can use a sponge underneath so that it is kept in place whilst you are soldering it and you can also bend the legs to that the LED is more easily kept in place.

Step 3 – Solder the LED on the pads by making sure you are using the right amount of lead as shown on the picture.

Step 4 – Cut the excess of the legs with side cutters and make sure you are not cutting too close to the PCB. You should aim to cut at about 2 mm off the board.
